Redmi Earbuds S Review

Redmi finally revealed the Redmi Earbuds S after a lot of wait in India this May 2020. And I ordered one to check it out and I have ordered more other wireless earphones under 2000 like Oneplus Bullets Z Wireless and Oppo Enco M31 neckband. I was happy with the pricing of these devices especially the Redmi Buds S. It is the same as the Redmi AirDots S. The earphones don’t cost much but promise a lot, including comfort, ease of use, and good sound. Find out if the Redmi Earbuds S are the best affordable true wireless earphones you can buy now, in our review. So, let’s check out.

Redmi Earbuds S price in India is ₹1,799!

Design

Case of the Redmi Earbuds S has a curved rectangle design with a matte black finish. Redmi branding is on the top of the case and in the side panel hosts a MicroUSB port. Overall, the case looks a bit bulky but is light weighted and easy to carry.

The buds have a physical button on top of them to initiate different actions. They are comfortable to wear and carry if you choose the ear tip as per the size of your ear canal from the set of three provided in the box. Earbuds have an LED under the surface which blinks only when charging when ready to pair.

Comfortability & Fit

Redmi Earbuds S looks good in the ear and sometimes it feels like they will fall but they don’t and stick to the ears. These soft tips are also good and you can choose one which fits your ear perfectly. I have used these while workout at home and were stable while jumping and remained in the ears.

Connectivity

Pairing Xiaomi Redmi Earbuds S is a simple process. Take out the buds from the case, search and add Redmi Earbuds S from the Bluetooth settings and you are good to go. Redmi Earbuds S pairs fast and have good connectivity while calling and pairing and moving out of the room.

Gaming

The Redmi Earbuds S has dedicated gaming mode (low latency mode) that brings wireless latency to 122ms. And this is very good for gaming although I prefer to use wired earphones or headphones while gaming. And these are great and this is the fact that makes it one of the best devices for gaming alongside Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z. if you want it for gaming then these are the must-haves and I recommend these!

Sound Quality

Redmi Earbuds S isolates the ear from ambient sound because of the way it fits. I am a balanced sound lover and sometimes I love heavy bass and I tried these for listening and these are good and bass-heavy which is a good thing for bass heads. Most of the instruments sound rich and have lots of clarity. Listening to jazzy Bollywood tunes or more calming international numbers, the overall audio profile is quite pleasing. The mids are strong too while the highs are clear. However, there’s a bias towards a bassy profile. If you are like me who loves this bassy flavor to all music, you will love listening on the Redmi Earbuds S. The bass overshadows the experience a few times and I missed the vocal a few times listing to the music. It is tuned for bass and it is overall good. A few times it distorts but it’s okay it didn’t happen much. I had an overall good experience with these.

Calling

The Redmi Earbuds S is acceptable for voice calls; we didn’t face any major issues with call quality in indoor environments, and connectivity was generally stable across use cases as well. The calling while driving was also decent.

Battery

The battery life claimed for these Redmi Earbuds S are 12hrs of playback time with the case. And I was able to watch a 3.5 hours movie with still some juice left. Xiaomi claims that one can get 4 hours on a single charge so it’s okay. While listening to 50% volume you can easily get the claimed battery life

Overall Verdict

These are IPX4 sweat and splash-proof so you can sweat really hard while working out and these will sustain. Calling was good but for someone who is an all-day earphone/headphone user battery is a bit less and I use mostly for calling so the battery was a bit less for me and I didn’t face any major issues. For those who want a bigger battery and are okay with less bass should get the Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z. Otherwise, these are good earphones offering good sound good gaming experience and look good! So I recommend these but do see if the battery life is enough for you! These are the best TWS earphones when you see the pricing its 1,799 INR and at that price the cons and the compromises make sense! At this price point, nothing can get close to these buds so you can get these if you want a TWS. These are the best truly wireless earphones under 2000.
